This privacy policy is governed by the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP / DSG). Where users from the European Economic Area (EEA) are affected, the GDPR applies additionally.
What data we collect
Website visits
When you visit this website, our server temporarily logs:
- IP address (anonymised after 24 hours)
- Date and time of the request
- Pages accessed
- Browser type and version
Legal basis: legitimate interest in secure operation of the website. We use no tracking scripts, cookies, or third-party analytics.
tjena!chat (Matrix service)
For operating our Matrix homeserver, we process:
- Username (freely chosen by you, no real name required)
- Encrypted message content (end-to-end encrypted; we cannot read the content)
- Message delivery metadata (timestamps, room IDs; stored for up to 30 days)
- IP address during connection (not stored beyond the session)
No email address, phone number, or other personally identifying information is required to use tjena!chat.
Note on federation: Because tjena!chat is based on the Matrix protocol, messages may be transmitted to users on other Matrix servers. In that case, the privacy policy of the respective server applies.
Your rights
Under the FADP and GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification of incorrect data
- Erasure of your data
- Data portability
- Object to processing
- Lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (Switzerland: FDPIC)
Retention periods
Server logs are deleted after 7 days. Message metadata after 30 days. Account data is deleted upon account deletion.
